UPDATE: Seems like a number of people have been applying this firmware to the Grandtec IP Camera 2. Note that this is for Grandtec IP camera 3 and its clones, I believe Grandtec IP Camera 2’s hardware is different so this firmware will not work. The Grand IP Camera III or 3 is manufactured by whose crappy and broken website looks like its been designed by a 10 year old kid 5 years ago. This made it really difficult to find a firmware upgrade for it.
Well, we’ve recently purchased this super cheap camera from. And it was as expected for an el cheapo camera. One of the reasons we got this camera was the possibility of accessing its MJPEG stream but that was.unsurprisingly. broken out of the box.

From sniffing the network traffic, we found out that they had messed up on the Content headers and was appending the stream data as part of the Content Length header. An extensive search was carried out for a firmware update through GrandTec’s various BROKEN and SHIT websites (referring to their USA and Italian sites) where ALL the links to their support was unaccessible. Finally, found out from that it was rebadged as IP camera and a quick search on the Hama site brought up the which fixes MJPEG and even allowed support for non-ActiveX browsers!!

Just wanted to say a big thanks. I have been struggling with a pair of Grand Tec IP cams V2 for a while now. Ending up running a web server and writing some java script to grab the still images and serve them. So that my iPhone and mac can see them.
With the firmware update the mjpeg just works!! I was a bit worried when I first updated it, but after downloading the ipcam utility from the grandtec website I discovered that the camera had reset to factory. The ipcam utility found the camera and let me change the ip back. All is now good with the GrandTec IP Cam! Thanks again! I have the Grandtec Grand IP Camera II (2) like matt and was trying to get it to feed my NAS box, which requires.jpg (as well as a shed full of other things) It was outputting.jpg but the Active X control file scares the poo out of Explorer.
Now with V1.08 it outputs.htm which seems to be a no no for Explorer but works OK with Firefox. Is there any way you can get Explorer to see.htm?
And has anyone got V1.4 or has anyone tried this V27 which is said to be an earlier version (2.7 before 1.8???). I would also like to try out the USB port, but can’t find any software for it, what are you guys using for the USB please send a copy to:-. And if anyone knows the dark secrets of getting an ipcam working on a THECUS N299 nas box, prey tell, does the cam have to have a cgi-bin output and cost £300 quid like the one the book shows you how to set up?
Best regards to all, Stew. I had some problems to make my four Grandtec wifi cams working. Spending over 10 hours I couldn’t find any tips online which works for me. The Eth interface was working fine but I’d never had it connected on wifi. They’re series2, with 1.6eu original soft. I upgraded them all with 1.8 found above, and they were still working only on the cable. Finally I’ve found that the power supply I’m using (mobile charger) seems to be to weak as all devices use to disconnect when get dark and they’ve been switching infrared on.
In manual there’s stated that the power supply should be 5V 2A so triple more powerful than my charger So I just fed them from my PC’s floppy connector and since then it’s working perfect! Getting connected within 10 secs, using 64-bit WEP. After firmware update cam is getting back to the factory settings so: login: ROOT, password: ADMIN. IP 192.168.1.100. Via IPDetect program I changed camera gateway to 192.168.1.254 (router address) and after connecting to the webcam I was able to change settings: in wireless menu: IP 192.168.1.101, gateway 192.168.1.254 and DNS1 192.168.1.254. WEP 64-bit security I set: SSID: test - same as in the router, infrastructure.
Don’t forget to click APPLY when you make changes on each card! Then just disconnect the power from the cam, switch it to wireless and power it on. Works really fine so good luck with your cams! I hope that will help and sorry for my english. Hi to All, PLEASE HELP ME.
My Grandetec IP WiFi Camera now works only on USB after firmware upgrade (from Model 3) What can I do? I have the Grandtec Grand IP Camera wifi and last January I tried to upgrade to a new firmware in order to make it work with WPA PSK but I do with a firmware found on the web for a new model and was not for my model.
What’s happend? My camera now cannot be found on ip mode with Iexplorer or Mozilla Firefox and I can use it only as an USB Device. Very sad for it.
I found this forum where somebody made my same footsteps. I please ask you if you can send me the original firmware of my IP WiFi model 2 Grandtec Camera and utility that I cannot found on the web also on the Grandtec Site. Do you know how to change my firmware to back with USB Port only? Do you think is possible? Is it possible to make an hardware reset? Many many Thanks for any helps to me. Thanks, this worked very well for me.
My situation was as follows (this may help others): I have a Grantec IPCam Model 2. It is the wired+wi-fi with infra-red LEDs for night-time use. The CD that came with it was purple with a light blue label on it saying “Software & USB Driver Version 4.3 For Model:2″. The firmware on the camera said 1.6EU.
I downloaded from this site the 1.08 firmware and followed the instructions to flash the camera. Afterwards, it wouldn’t show up on IP, I believe I did a factory reset. Then I installed the IPDetect tool from the CD on to an WinXP machine. After a bit of fiddling to get the right network card, IPDetect found the camera. Then I changed the IP settings back to what they were. After that, everything was fine.
I now have a Model 2 Grandtec IP camera running 1.8 ReleaseTime:20061022 and the video mpg seems to be now working nicely. Thanks for the help! Hello, i need desperate help guys. I have this Grand ip video camera, model 2, from Grandtec. The problem is this: i tryed to configure it, going in it’s ip, 192,168.1.100. I managed to log in, using user and password, but the next it asked me to select language, and after i did that, it just sit there without going any farther. I tryed that few more times, and after that i tryed to reset/default the camera.
After that, i could no longer acces it’s ip or configuration menu or anything. I have tryed looking up in the router to check for any ip connected, but the camera will not show up, it is like it’s dead. I also tryed reserving the ip 192.168.1.100 from router’s menu, using the camera’s MAC adress, but still no, it’s like it is dead. I can use the camera just fine with USB cable, on PC mode, but not on IP mode. Please help me, what should i do? Not being able to acces menu from internet browser, i am also unable to rewrite or update o new firmware to fix it or anything.
Is there something i can do?
